The Purple Door specializes in a full range of Custom Window Coverings, including Soft Treatment, such as Draperies, Bedding, Accessories, etc., and Hard Treatments, such as Blinds, Shades, and Shutters. Our FREE in-home service provides our clients with the opportunity to visualize colors, textures, lighting, shadings, and patterns in the setting where the final creation will be displayed.
Owner Barbette Jones studied architecture at Penn College in Pennsylvania, and received her degree in Fashion Design at Park College in Missouri. She is a member of Drapery Pro and designed window coverings for a home that won First Place for Design at the 2006 and 2007 Kansas City Parade of Homes. The home was featured in the Kansas City Home & Garden Magazine.
As an architecture student in college, Barbette learned to appreciate creativity and form, such as the “Living Waters” by Frank Lloyd Wright, which was near her home. After finishing my degree in Fashion Design, many of her custom sewing customers asked her to create lovely treatments for their homes, which led me to The Purple Door, specializing in window treatments. Her background and artistic interest shows her flair for style, creative ideas, and an eye for quality. She delights in providing her professional expertise and designing skills creating beautiful products for her clients.
