A Look at Custom Roman Shades

You can also commission a local interior designer to design and make custom shades for you. The designer may suggest fabrics or styles you would have never thought of, and will make the Roman shades quickly. It will cost significantly more than if you made the custom Roman shades yourself. You can also buy custom Roman shades on the Internet. A simple search on custom Roman shades will produce scores of online retailers. You will not have, however, the freedom you had with an interior designer. The shades will look custom, but you will have to search through the hundreds of available shades to find ones perfect for your windows. Buying shades online is less expensive than hiring an interior designer.

Custom Roman Shades Review

Roman shades are a classic window treatment. They are simple, elegant, and can fit in any style of room. Roman shades are made from a single of fabric panel. A cord is thread through loops running along the length of the fabric at regular intervals. When the cord is pulled, the fabric raises in the groups of evenly spaced panels. Most Roman shades are made of fabric, but bamboo Roman shades fit in rooms with an earthy or Asian décor. You can buy packaged, basic Roman shades from most home stores, but you can also make or buy customized Roman shades. Roman shades are one of the most simple homemade window treatment projects. It is a great project for beginning home decorators. You can find free instructions to make them on the Internet. When you make your own Roman shades, you select the fabric, the spacing, and the style of Roman shade. The needed supplies, other than the fabric, are very inexpensive. You can make Roman shades without a sewing machine, but it will take much longer. The price of the fabric depends on the quality you select, but fabric stores carry lots of inexpensive fabrics.

Window Treatments That Will Keep Your Home Cool This Summer

When selling your home, it is imperative to keep things inside and out looking their best. If you are trying to sell your home during the summer months, it can be tricky keeping the place at a pleasant temperature and attractive at the same time. It’s even more difficult to keep your home stylish and cool without breaking the bank in the process.   Aside from having ceiling fans or air conditioning units throughout the house, you can also make your space more comfortable by focusing on the windows. There are window treatments available in a range of prices that can significantly reduce the amount of heat that gets trapped in your home, and can lower your energy bills in the process.  Solar shades are attractive looking from the outside, and don’t block your view from the inside. Available in several colors, solar screens are becoming a popular option among homeowners whose windows face the full glare of the sun. Installed on the outside of your home, these shades block the sun’s rays from entering the house, which makes them one of the most effective heat-reducing window treatments on the market.

How to Clean Mini Blinds

Mini-blinds are very convenient and attractive window treatments. They typically have either vertical or horizontal slats, and are woven either from natural or synthetic reeds. The only disadvantage they have is that they cannot be cleaned easily. Cleaning mini blinds doesn’t require strength – it requires delicate handling. The following instructions should help clarify how to clean them. As a first step, you should vacuum-clean them while the mini blinds are still hanging on your window. This process will help to remove excess dust. Next, you should remove the mini-blinds from the window and take them either outside or to the bathroom for a wet wash.

Window treatements that are totally GREEN

Current statistic show that around 30% of householders want the government to help and establish a network of trades that will work together to create a uniform body that can advise and regulate what window coverings or blinds would be most suitable for their home or business Its also about using products that aren’t going to be harmful to the environment or that may sustain products for a longer time on windows.

New Perspectives

Before entering this industry, I was completely unaware of the vast number of options available to consumers when it comes to window treatments. My knowledge of window fashions was basically limited to the window fashions I saw in department and retail stores … standard blinds, horizontal blinds, roller shades. Little did I know there was an entire world of window fashions that existed beyond my limited experiences. Only after immersing myself in the window-fashions industry for the last eight months have I come to realize the importance of window treatments … from energy savings, to light control, to privacy, to aesthetics. In fact, I’ve found myself fascinated with the subject … realizing that whenever I enter a home (whether for the first time or the hundredth time), I find myself immediately drawn to the window. Bare windows stick out like a sore thumb. While this is obvious to those who have been immersed in the industry for years, it is not so obvious to consumers. Many consumers have no idea the options they have when it comes to what they place on their windows. Most consumers may not realize the value of window fashions until they are presented with the facts—window fashions really do have the ability to transform a room’s design from “great” to “extraordinary.” As a window-fashions professional, it’s your mission to enlighten them. Educate them on energy savings, on temperature control, on lighting aspects, on how adding this one element to their design can literally transform a room into a work of art. Here at Window Fashions, we’d like to know how you incorporate window fashions into your designs. What strategies do you use to get your clients interested in window treatments? And what have you learned from your clients when it comes to their views on window fashions? We want to know!

Decorating Ideas With Window Treatments

Whether your dream room is formal and filled with fabulous antiques or if it is cozy and sporting worn leather, you can complete the vision with carefully planned window treatments.  Privacy, protection from the sun and energy efficiency rank high on the list of consumer needs for their windows. Blinds and shutters will provide this practical layer of window treatments. Purchase the best that your budget will allow because constant opening and closing will wear on the mechanisms that work these coverings.
Let the (Partial) Sun Shine In
Often we want to enjoy the sun streaming into our home or the view of the trees outside our window but we still want the privacy of a covered window. The solution is installing shades with the top down/bottom up feature.  Simply put, they can be lifted from the bottom to give a view of the outside world but still allowing the lower half of the window to be covered. When privacy is not a concern, they can be used as traditional horizontal blinds.

Window Treatments

When it comes to window treatments, I like to keep the designs simple and elegant. I mostly use side panels which add just enough texture and fabric to soften a window. I also like roman shades. I’m not a fan of swags or valances or anything that obstructs the view beyond the window. Window treatments should enhance a window, not overpower or hide it. Here are some sensational ideas for dressing up your windows…
