A curtain rod is a device for suspending curtains most of the time above windows or along the edges of showers, and actually, wherever curtain might be used. In the bathroom, curtain rods tend to be self-fixing and in other areas of the house are often installed with decorative brackets or with what is called a finial. Curtain rods can be made of materials like wood, metal or plastic and comes in many styles and designs. Not every curtain rod is a simple straight rod as there are curved and hinged rods available for use around curved walls and corners or bay windows. Aside from straight curtain rods there are also the crane or swing arm design.
