Exciting Windows

Window shades come in a diversity of styles and types. The simple roller shade is now only one preference among a huge selection of textures, colors, and materials. Window shades are repeatedly the first purchase of new homebuyers. No sew roman shades or cellular window shades are among the most accepted today. These shades are designed to insulate and can chunk up to 75% of heat transfer between the window and the room. This quality makes cellular window shades energy efficient in addition to their other benefits. Another trait of many cellular window shades is that they can be raised or lowered in either direction to allow for privacy similar to that of a caf curtain. They can be structured as light filtering which allows for privacy but allows light to fill a room or they can be totally opaque to block out all sunlight, which is good for bedrooms.

I worked in the bedroom until after midnight last night….For the curtains, I coffee stained muslin and nailed it to the top of the window trim–no sewing, no rods, nothing! Then I tied them up with coffee stained ticking, which matches the ties on the new bed curtains. I have plans to make another bed skirt (as a longer, under layer) in the same ticking. I found a rug we had a few houses ago (used to be in the foyer back then)..It just fits at the end of the bed perfectly, and matches the quilt to boot! I placed a 19c baby cradle and one of my favorite vintage quilts in it, which covers all my books that are hidden underneath.  I still have to fill the walls, but I ran out of energy, and also I didn’t want to be nailing and screwing screws into the walls with the kids sleeping. The bed curtains are cheap panels from Target– but they work well with the coffee stained muslin of the window curtains, and I didn’t even have to sew!

Bunk bed curtains come in many different styles and shapes and are only limited by you and your child’s imagination. Both bunk bed curtains come with plenty of storage pockets for toys, books and secret things!   When your child has outgrown their bunk bed curtains, then perhaps discount swag curtains would be nice. Swags are curtains at the top of a window only, sometimes they have a piece of material that hangs down one or both sides, but normally, it’s just the top of the window. The material sways from one corner to the other forming a swag or swing like gathering with the material. Many stores both online and off, discount sell discount swags because they only go on the top of the window and don’t use a lot of material.
