As the owner of Exciting Windows by Decor Elan, I have had the privilege of working on a wide variety of interior design projects over the years. One we are currently involved with began as a renovation of a Victorian Farm House located on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The home was purchased from a previous owner who had selected a diverse color pallet - apple green foyer, lemon yellow kitchen and candy apple red dining room. The pallet felt disjointed and unsetteling when placed against the breathtaking backdrop of wetlands, marshes and tranquil bay. The floor plan was also somewhat choppy. We raised openings from room to room amd removed french doors to allow more natural light to flood the main living spaces. We also added lots of trim detail in the form of crown mouldings and picture mouldings to create a timeless, classic canvas on which to begin painting the interior details. Lighting was also corrected in the family room, sunroom/kitchen, foyer and dining room. A softly muted color pallet was implememented to really draw the outdoor views into the main living spaces. All of this along with beautiful woven wood Roman shades, quietly elegant drapery and classic furniture pieces have combined to create a home that is truely relaxing, warm, inviting and rich. To see photos of this project, please visit our website www.decorelan.com.
