We all know that a hot topic these days is “Going Green”. As Decor Elan sets out to learn more about this concept we will make sure to keep you updated. Recently, a representative from Mohawk flooring came to our studio and presented us with information on how their products are doing their part to “Go Green”.
The rep gave us a handheld globe to show us the various steps taken to produce their EverStrand green carpet line. The first step consists of collecting plastic bottles from the landfills. Mohawk recycles over 3 billion plastic bottles every year by doing this. Next, Mohawk converts the bottles into PET flakes that will eventually lead to the making of highly stain resistent fiber. After this process is completed, Mohawk uses that fiber to make millions of yards of earth-friendly carpet.
If you would like to know more about Mohawk’s carpet please contact Decor Elan in Salisbury, MD. We’d be happy to provide you with some of the “Going Green” information that you’ve been looking for!

We all know that the traditional holiday colors are red and green. Everywhere you look there is red and green. You cannot walk into a store around Christmas time without seeing these two colors. Christmas is known for its reds and green but these days, other colors are being used in holiday décor. Décor Elan in Salisbury, Maryland suggests that you add some new colors to your red and green palette.
During the holidays, it is suggested that warm colors should be used. Warm colors usually include yellows, oranges, and reds. Various tones of these colors can be used together to create a unique color scheme that completely flatters your home.
Using warm colors in your décor will provide a modern twist to your holiday look. These colors will give you a cozy feeling when it is bitterly cold outside and they will brighten up your season.

Are you tired of decorating your house the same way every single year? Are you ready to do something new and different? If so, Robin Lattinville of Décor Elan in Salisbury, Maryland has some great tips for helping to spruce up your holiday décor.
1. Use what you have:
-Color Scheme (unusual colors)
-Collections
-Old decorative items used in new ways
2. Use Fresh Florals & Greens from your own yard
3. Put seasonal fruits to work for you
4. Fabric remnants can become:
-Bows
-Table Runners
-Tree Skirt
5. Empty boxes wrapped in coordinated papers adorned with beautiful ribbon, bows, or trinkets
6. To make a statement – use multiples of any decorative item (i.e. rather than 1 paperwhite – use 6; a small cache of holiday flowers has more impact when 3 or more are grouped together, group candles of varying heights together in one area etc.)
7. Use unusual containers to display holiday tress – (i.e. –orange crates, garden containers, galvanized buckets, even plastic 5 gallon paint buckets wrapped in burlap can look festive).
If you would like some more holiday decorating tips please call Décor Elan. We’d be happy to help you make your holiday home spectacular
