The architecture of this amazing home in Burr Ridge, Dupage county Illinois, was my inspiration!

The curved walls that surround the circular breakfast nook was an architectural feature that can not be ignored!

It has all started when I felt that, the one curved wall that is shared between the formal dining room and the breakfast area, has spoken to me! It just needed to be emphasized, and using the circle as an element in our design was borne!

The fabric selected was a Robert Allen from the Larry Laslo collection, Cuff Links, color copper, lined with black sheers. The hardware was a Robert Allen Hardware as well, from the Bloome collection. The wall sculpture, is made out of hand blown glass balls, in various sizes and colors.Copper, greens, honey, cream and grays, all has supported the over all design. The room is not yet complete, but the excitement that my client and myself both shared, made me write about it sooner. When the room is fully furnished and all put together, you will hear from me again, I promise!

What should I do  with a window seat in a girls bed room?

Here is an idea for you!

This client wanted to create an extra ordinary window treatment for her seven year old daughter. After listening to her a describing her little girls personality, what she likes, the way she plays and so on, this is what we came up with: Create a stage like for her so she can pretend, and play make belief with her friends, how exciting!

Two side panels, lifted to the sides will give that stage feel along the canopy valance. Nice soft cushions, and pillows will add comfort and coziness.

The results: A happy 7 year old, that keeps busy, and enjoys play with her friends. Check out the video below.

My window in the living room has wood blinds and untreated transom, it looks unfinished and the room is cold during the winter months and hot in the afternoon during the summer months! Any suggestions on how to finish it up and solutions for the coolness and heat lose?

Dear client,

I totally understand your situation, I also agree that your room lacks the warmth and friendliness and it needs some fabric treatment!

Here is my suggestion:

Based on what you have told me per our phone conversation, you liked full length draperies with a cornice or plain valance.

How about some ripple fold draperies that will give you a bit of a modern flare that you like and at the same time it will open in the center with small stack back to each side which will give you more exposure of the outside! This will enable you to look at the outside while sitting in your recliner as you shared with me that was what you do to relax after a long day at work!

The draperies can be lined and interlined for added insulation. The interlining will add body to the drapes for a more opulent look. Then we can top it off with a plain straight bottom edged valance for a more finished look!

I have been enjoying the sun that comes through a sky light in our master bath. Since we moved in our current home many years ago, I have fell in love with the sky light. Even when the sun is not shining, just the fact that I get more light in the master bath, it brings me joy and gives the space a sense of spaciousness.  

One issue that is not on the positive side though, that the sun is creating damages. The cabinet color is fading, same thing with my towels although it gets changed every two days, and the worse damage is to my makeup and perfumes!!! Eyeliner pencils melting; mascara oozing out; and perfumes change their odors!

One can not dispute the beauty and joy a sky light can bring, however one can eliminate, the damages that can occur from the sun rays which are imminent, and the cost of replacing furniture, cabinets, flooring…etc can soar!

There are many solutions to preventing damages from the sky lights that will not take away from its beauty and appeal. Motorization has been a number one choice to operate sky light shadings, and it can be planed early on when the house is being built or remodeled!
