Exciting Windows by Hummingbird Shutters

We have recently transitioned our company name. Why some have asked? We believe that adding Exciting Windows to our name gives us a broader scope in the custom window covering industry. While we still locally manufacturer our own quality Plantation shutters; we have expanded our offerings over the years to include all hard treatments, including products by Hunter Douglas. Recently, we added custom drapery (with fabric offerings from Carole, Lafayette and RM Coco), and professionally trained design consultants. And our most recent expansion is offering window films or window tinting.

With all the changes, we are still the same company with the same mission…to offer the best products at great pricing, all the while remembering that “it is all about our client”, so crafting custom window products and offering exceptional customer service is for their enjoyment and benefit, not ours.

Swags and Cascades

Filed under: Design Consultant, Window coverings, window treatments — Tags: , — hummingbird @ 12:33 am

Swags and cascades are a dramatic treatment for windows. The swag is a drape of fabric which hangs in front of the curtains; the cascades are the elegant lengths of fabric that frame the window on either side. The more formal version is fixed to a valance board, but fabric can be draped informally over a rod as the only form of window dressing. Although the formal swags look best on tall windows, dressing full-length curtains, they can be effective scaled down to suit smaller windows.

The Magic of Fabric

“Fabric is a magical element. Sheer fabrics can be installed as draperies, curtains (tied-back of in straight-hung panels) and top treatments, or used in the ever expanding manufactured products utilizing sheer or semi-sheer fabric in a horizontal or vertical blind. Many customers embrace the idea of using sheers and shadings because they soften light and because the light coming in through the fabric adds to the visual and sensual ambiance of the room.”

Emotions of Window Covering Design

Creating beautiful windows for our customer is more than just “making the sale”. It is about helping the client make a personal statement about their living environment. It is more than just function, it is about the client feeling great about their choice; whether it a blind with a box-pleat valance, a stained shutter or other window covering. It is about them saying “WOW” I am glad we did that.
