Exciting Windows! members came together for a regional meeting at the International Window Coverings Expo in Las Vegas where the first group of graduates received their certification as Exciting Colors! Specialists.
“Through a collaborative program with PPG Pittsburgh/Porter Paints and their new “Voice of Color” strategy, members of our network of independent window treatment professionals in the United States and Canada have been trained to help consumers select paint colors for their home, ” cited Kathy Cragg, VP of member services. “This service, allows Exciting Colors! specialists to suggest draperies, decorative shadings, shutters or blinds and then coordinate paint colors to ensure that the new window fashions, furniture and flooring all work in perfect harmony for years to come,” continued Cragg. “Valued at $250, this paint color service is provided for free to our members’ customers.”
Exciting Windows! members who received certification have been trained through online and classroom study with special collateral material supplied by PPG and facilitated by Fawn Chang, the company’s national color and design consultant, and color specialist Sarah Youngblood of Exciting Windows!
“Research tells us this program will bring sought after ‘added value’ to homeowners,” cited Cragg, “and will generate at-home appointments and sales for our members and offer a service that is not available from any national competitor.
By providing beautiful window fashions and a color coordinated room, our customers feel great and their rooms go from boring to ‘exciting’ – leading to more repeat and referral appointments as well.”For more information log on to http://excitingwindows.com/krisshook

Color influences everything from memory retention, the taste of food, and our purchasing habits, to how we relate to one another, how quickly we recover from heartbreak and surgery, and our mood. It follows then that you can positively influence a situation simply by using the right colors.

Accent walls make a lot of sense these days for several reasons. For one you can save on costs and time by adding some pizzazz to only one wall. Additionally, an eye-popping accent wall can have a bold pop of color(s), large bold prints, or fantastic texture, and typically you wouldn’t want to have these options on all four walls of a room as it would be too busy.

The colors of our environment affect our behavior and mood. When yellow daffodils, bluebells and colorful crocuses appear, we immediately begin to feel livelier; when grey skies and rain or snow surround us we instinctively draw in and tend to hibernate.
Enjoy the beauty which surrounds you!

If you use different paint finishes when painting stripes, it can create a visually interesting wall. One way to paint stripes is to combine the use of semigloss and matte paint in the same color. Paint some of the stripes using semigloss paint and the other using flat paint or a combination of any other kind of paint finishes that you choose for an elegant but subtle look. Some of the other paint finishes include satin, suede, metallic and eggshell. As a Certified Color Consultant, Kriss Hook can help with color and technique to enhance your room or entire home.

A ceiling is part of your horizon, so I recommend painting it a lighter shade of the wall color rather than stark white. However, For really high ceilings, I recommend using a color slightly darker than the wall color to add dimension and warmth to your space. As a Certified Color Specialist, as well as a Certified Window Treatment Specialist, Exciting Windows! by Kriss Hook can help you choose products and color to enhance every window and wall in your home.
