One more bit of fun from the LIttle Shop of Horrors set in Rochester High School… last weekend I made this cake of Audrey II for the students who have been working so hard on their music, acting, set building and painting, lighting, sound, props, costumes and makeup. Yes, it was all cake except for the clay flowerpot.
Just like the cake isn’t finished till it has great frosting, your room isn’t finished until your windows are dressed! If you don’t know how to dress a window, send me a picture thru my website and let’s brainstorm!

Hello again!

Draperies, blinds, shades, and gorgeous decorative hardware are all options for abc’s designers to choose for a Central Illinois build this month!

We are proud to be part of a large group of drapery workrooms, installers, and window coverings providers who will volunteer their time and donate their products to make someone’s life better.

ExcitingWindows! by Susan Day is proud to be partnering with the designers to provide the decorative drapery hardware: beautiful wood and metal poles, finials, rings and brackets to play the “supporting role” for great fabrics, drapery and maybe even trims.

Most everything is kept secret until the last minute, so we do not even know whether the build will be in Springfield or Peoria, but either way we will be there.

Happy Friday everyone! Today I had the privelege of installing blinds, custom draperies and rods/finials for three wonderful clients in Springfield. The first stop of the day covered the windows of a new homeowner with very affordable faux wood blinds. They had priced Hunter Douglas, Graber, and Timber Blinds, and finally selected value-priced brand since they would move in a few years. My second client needed room-darkening drapery for a guest bedroom, to look pretty during the day but let her guests sleep in on sunny mornings!

Last, we hung some simple but elegant two-color linen draperies from grommets at the top. These will open and close on a faux-finished iron rod for some sun control, but most of the time their beautiful folds will just soften the architecture of her great room’s tall triple windows with transoms. Best of all, when the client arrived home, she was so excited and said, “The room just didn’t look finished until today!”
