Holes In Your Walls

Holes In Your Walls???—Stop Wasting Your Money!!!

So why is it when we talk about saving energy around our homes we think about things like adding insulation to the attic, changing out our light bulbs for the more efficient versions and turning down our thermostats, but we forget about those great big gaping holes in our walls?

Holes in our walls?  That’s right, everyone has them, great big gaping holes that wreck havoc on our energy cost and waste your money!  You say not me.  I don’t have holes in my walls!  I would say, yes you do, they are called windows and unless you live underground or in a cave, we all have them.  That’s right, windows, and no matter how good a window you think you may have, try feeling it on a cold winter day, or on a hot sunny day as well.  Windows, while bringing the light into our rooms, also let the cold in during the winter and the heat in during the summer and don’t get me started on the damage that the UV rays from the sun can do to your floors and furniture.

So what’s the answer?  Surely it is not to grab a handful of the big fluffy (and itchy) pink stuff the Pink Panther hawks and cover up your windows and your views.  That would just be silly!

The answer is an energy efficient window coverings that not only will save you money, but will look beautiful as well.  Let’s see the Pink Panther or any other home energy improvement pull that off!

As an added bonus, many window coverings, such as Duette Honeycomb Shades from Hunter Douglas do such a good job at adding energy savings to a window that they may qualify for a Tax Rebate from the government of up to $1500 off of your taxes in 2010!

So, stop wasting your money and dress your windows with window coverings that are beautiful and fashionable and will save you money too!

Considering Shutters?

Lafayette Harvest Wood Shutters w/Louver Mover

Another Happy Customer!

When you want a timeless and upscale feel to your room you should consider using shutters.  With literally an endless choice of colors, shapes and sizes, shutters can be made to fit any window and transform any room.  From a clean, bright and simple look of a white cafe’ shutter, to the warm and rich look of a deeply stained shutter that shows off the natural beauty of the wood, shutters add more appeal, fashion and value to your home.

As timeless as shutters are, they have many newer features that also add to their appeal, such as; Louver Mover which eliminates the traditional tilt rod in the center of the panels and provides a clean and unobstructed view, to battery operated remote control operation that tilts the slats with just a touch of a button.

Just this week I completed another shutter installation for some happy clients in West Chester, Ohio.  They had just completed a bathroom remodel and could not figure out how to cover their picture window over their tub with something other than a traditional window shade.  They needed the privacy, but also wanted the ability to easily control the light and they wanted it to match their woodwork.  The perfect solution, Harvest Wood Shutters from Lafayette with Louver Mover (see picture above).

Shutters may cost a little more, but they add so much more!

My Brain is Full!

As I posted last week, I was heading off to Baltimore to attend the Exciting Windows 2010 Annual Conference.  Well, after 3 1/2 days of seminars, presentations from vendors and industry leaders my brain is full of new and exciting ideas about how to best dress naked windows!  There are just so many reasons to dress up your windows too; from the basics of light control and privacy to vastly improved energy efficiency and lets not forget, fashion!  That’s right, its nice to lower our energy bills with something so simple like a window covering, but why stop there?  Why not go the extra step and make it look fashionable too with draperies and valances all made with beautiful fabrics that will make your room lok so much better and your view of the world that much prettier.

With many great suppliers like Hunter Douglas, B&W Window Fashions, Lafayette and more, there are thousands of ways we can customize your windows for you and your home.

Looking forward to working with you.

Never Stop Learning

Exciting Windows Conference in Baltimore, MD Feb 12-16th

This weekend I am heading off to Baltimore, MD (yes, heading into more snow!) to learn more about window coverings and how best to serve my customers.  Although I have been doing this for over 10 years and I have 100’s of customers and literally thousands of windows that I have covered, there is always something new to learn.  My philosophy is if I can learn just one new thing that will help my customers with their window covering needs than it is worth the time.

We will have the opportunity to hear and learn from some of the biggest names in this business, like Steve Bursten and Grace McNamara, and get to see first hand what new and exciting things our vendors will be bringing to the market and soon to your homes.  Some of the vendors that are scheduled to be there include B&W Window fashions, Comfortex, Rm Coco and many more.

I am really looking forward to it and reporting back about some of the new things I learned.

Motorizing hard to reach windows

Filed under: Cincinnati, Loveland, window coverings — Tags: , , — wallsandmore @ 9:06 am

Motorization Project: Indian Hill, Ohio

I had an interesting appointment last week with a customer in her new home.  She designed a beautiful room with incredible windows looking out over a fantastic view.  Her problems was she needed something that would provide some sun control on these 207″ tall windows, but that would also roll up and go away with the push of a button.

To solve her problem, we at Exciting Windows! by Walls & More, are working with a number of my vendors, including Hunter Douglas and Somfy (a leading manufacturer of automating window coverings) to come up with the perfect solution for her.

I look forward to sharing the results and pictures with you soon.
