How to Maximize Net Profit: Understanding the Critical Numbers

Sunday March 20 at 3:20 p.m.

Tracking your business performance is critical to driving more net profit. The first step to increasing your net profit is to plan and understand your numbers. And what are the critical numbers? This workshop will show you how to begin with the basics: understand the components of gross profit and gross margin; learn how your product mix plays a big role in delivering higher net profit; hear about the critical elements of your sales numbers, such as closing ratio and average sale; analyze your expenses; and finally, arrive at your net profit.

Once we track and understand these numbers, the next step is to compare your results with other Exciting Windows! Members. Sharing your numbers with other business owners is one of the biggest advantages you have over competitors in the industry. We learn from one another by gaining a better understanding of the experiences and opportunities of others.

Advance preparation is important for this workshop. Come prepared with numbers from last year and your plans for 2016. Last August, at the CEO Conference in Kansas City, Members reported it was one of the best experiences of their career to work and plan with your instructor, Steve Wishnow. In this workshop, you’ll join Steve Wishnow and Susan Day, as well as fellow Members, who become your “personal coach”. If you were in Kansas City, attend again; if not, DO NOT miss it again.

Discover how much more NET profit would you have if gross profit margin were only 5% higher. This is the perfect workshop for advance preparation. You will learn how to:

  • Get the most out of each sale
  • Maintain a higher gross margin
  • Manage your expenses
  • Deliver the highest net profit possible

6. Managed Business Owners

Managing to the Next Level

ONE workshop with two topics

Sunday March 20 at 3:20 PM

Part I - Diversify, Yes or No? Should you diversify into other product categories? If so, when? Participate in this workshop for an open discussion about window coverings businesses and options to diversify. Should you add commercial sales? How about nursing homes? Outside shutters and window treatments? Should you consider closet systems? When should you consider other options? Which is the best opportunity for you? Learn from other members who have diversified their businesses and from leader / instructors who will share best practices. Receive a checklist from Exciting Windows! Chairman, Steve Bursten, plus great advice from experienced members.

Part II – Core Values: Mission, Purpose, and Essential Qualities for Building a Great Business

The owner of the business sets the philosophy and guidelines for the way the business functions. When there are no management or sales employees, the owner practices his or her core values intuitively without writing them down. But when there are employees, suppliers, outside contractors and other people who are important to the business, there is a need to have a clear-cut mission statement and a list of the key core values the owner believes in. This statement of mission and values tells all others in the business what the owner stands for, and how he or she wants the business to serve customers.
