After attending the International Window Covering Expo in Charlotte, NC and learning about the latest window fashions and innovative technology, we got our Exciting Windows members together to define the window treatment trends for 2017.
Our members debated back and forth about new products, innovative functionalities, even what window fashions trends they see up and coming. After a fun and collective collaboration, we defined the following custom window treatment trends for 2017.

1. Motorization and Automation
Technology is booming and not going 
to slow down anytime soon. With home automation becoming more integrated in every new home appliance, why should window coverings be any different?
Did you know you can control your window coverings from your smartphone or tablet?
Well you can! Motorized window coverings are making life easier with their control functionalities and you can even schedule your shades to go up down whenever you want. Imagine being awaken by the sun every morning or having them go down every night before you go to sleep.

Automated window coverings are fun and easy-to-use for blinds, shades, and even draperies. Whatever your needs may be, motorization is one of the best lift options for window treatments.
2. Multi-Layered Window Treatments
So, what are multi-layered window treatments? Multi-layered window treatments are when you pair one type of window treatment with another window treatment.
Maybe you love the light and privacy options of sun blocking window shades, but also desire a luxurious look with drapery panels.
You can combine drapery panels to layer with blinds, shades, and shutters to give you the light and privacy functionality you want along with an elegant look with a designer finish.

Across the board, simple elegance is a well-recognized window treatment trend for 2017. New products, fabrics, window treatment colors, and accessories are all moving towards the idea of simple, yet classy.
Adding the perfect embellishment or just enough of a patterned fabric are just a few examples of simple elegance.
Elegance doesn’t have to be over the top and flashy. All you need is a splash of luxury in your design.
For 2016, we are seeing window treatments being designed with soft, simple fabrics paired with clean, classy accessories. Leave out the fluff.

The best window coverings for children’s bedrooms are cordless. Whether it’s blinds, shades, draperies, or shutters, all window treatments nowadays have child safety control features.
